“Yes, sure,” Narkowicz said. “We will bring S hadow Warrior 2 to Xbox Scorpio when it will be available. We asked Krzysztof Narkowicz, who is the programmer on the game, whether the company has plans to bring their game to the Scorpio- surely the notion of having theirgame be on the most powerful console ever, which is what the Scorpio is being billed as, is exciting, yes? We got the chance recently to talk to Flying Wild Hog, the folks who are bringing us the upcoming Shadow Warrior 2, and we got the opportunity to discuss these new machines with them- more specifically, the Xbox One Scorpio and the PS4 Neo. Also, Ameonna's character change was a sin. There are a few new consoles on the horizon- we have Sony giving the PlayStation 4 an incremental power boost with the upcoming PlayStation 4 Neo, the Xbox Scorpio is supercharging the Xbox One, and making it the most powerful console ever, according to Microsoft’s claims, and then there is the NX- whatever the hell that is. It's as if Wang had no character arc going into 2, whereas in 1 he tells Xing, "I used to be an asshole," and indeed Wang's attitude changed from start to finish.Įnd of rant. I don't understand how the writer(s) of 2 veered so far off track. Both have silly premises, both have magical powers, both have a character named after a penis, but the writer(s) of 1 knew how to balance their dialogue such that characters did not devolve into caricatures. I can't invest in the world because it's a cartoon. There were more expositional lines of dialogue than fart or dick jokes, or lame insults. I just replayed the game, that is a fact. And that's almost every conversation in this game. Then your sidekick and Wang start yelling at each other for the thousandth time. When a semi-major character is dying in front of you, and the sad emotional music is playing, that character starts talking about dick jokes. I like the dumb humour and fortune cookies from 1, don't get me wrong, but this game does not understand the meaning of restraint. Every sentence out of Wang and friends' mouths are jokes, quips, nasty insults, or meaningless drivel. I thought I could trudge on because of how much I liked Lo Wang in the last game, but holy hell is the writing in this game abysmal. I get the elemental system, but even so enemies can take several magazines to put down, never mind sword strikes. I thought enemies in 1 could be spongey, but this is Borderlands level of ammo dumps. The movement is so smooth, so responsive. What the hell happened with 2? That game, from a gameplay perspective, plays like grease lightning. Even Wang's combat quips struck a balance between frequency and silliness they didn't go overboard. Things normal people on an abnormal adventure might discuss. I liked how they would chat about what was happening, side characters, or their respective pasts. Even though Wang and Hoji started off cold, they formed a believable bond. That ending too, I felt things for Wang and company. That game ended up having (for the time) great combat, novel Easter eggs (which Doom 2016 would take strong influence from) and a surprisingly interesting story. The trailers made it look like gory fun, with some oddball and sarcastic humour. I won't go on and on, but I just wanted to vent my frustration.
